1x01: In Harm's Way
(In Progress)
The Constitution class USS Mariner is newly refitted and docked at Starbase 17 awaiting launch. Commander Matthew Drake, the Mariner's Commanding Officer, has spent the last two years overseeing the refit of his vessel, even as he himself brings himself up to speed on this brave new world. When word comes in of a gathering Elyshan fleet near Starbase 386, Drake begs, bullies, and cajoles Starfleet into allowing the Mariner to join the assembled vessels there. As the tension mounts near SB386, the Mariner's new crew struggle to get used to their unique situation.
1x02: And the Night Cried Out, What of the Stars?
Normally a very stable type of star, Arismal Xertias is dying, going through death throes normally associated with a much older star. Approximately one month earlier, Starfleet had lost contact with a team testing an experimental method of stabilizing a star. The Mariner has been assigned to determine the fate of the science team, as well as the possibility that what is happening to Arismal Xertias could occur to other similar stars in other Federation systems, such as Sol. The crew soon find however, that Arismal Xertias holds a secret beyond their wildest imaginations.
1x03: Silent Majority
The people of Jarosh III live in two realities - the physical reality, and the reality they create in their minds. Because of their unique brain structure, the two realities can live - and have lived - in peaceful co-existence. The Mariner has arrived to follow up First Contact and to study these interesting people and their unique brain structure. While they are there however, it becomes evident that there is trouble in paradise. The culture has become aggressive toward each other, and toward outsiders, causing mayhem, and possibly much worse. When a member of the crew is seriously injured by an unprovoked telepathic attack, Commander Drake and his crew must unravel the mystery, before an entire society tears itself apart... from within!
1x04: The Prometheus Effect
A mysterious, dying traveller claims to have evidence of a long sought after and (once thought) mythical technology - a Zero Point Energy system. Commander Drake and his crew follow the leads from planet to planet, and soon discover that they aren't the only ones searching for this holy grail of science, and that the stakes may be far higher than they ever realized.
1x05: Between the Darkness and the Daylight
While testing a revolutionary new subspace communication system, the Mariner's crew detect a faint distress call from quite a distance outside Federation space, in unexplored territory. Responding to the call, they find a small, beautiful world, 'Rylla', apparently ravaged by terrible spaceborn attacks -- attacks the inhabitants will not speak of. When a pair of massive (and apparently opposing) battlefleets appear, Commander Drake and his crew find themselves in the middle of an ancient, interstellar war, with Rylla as the prize!
1x06: Cruicble
When the Mariner arrives at the distant world of Arrian, a peaceful, idyllic planet with a freindly native population, Commander Drake decides it would make a perfect spot for much needed shoreleave. The planet features advanced shipbuilding facilities and the people are happy to help with repairs to the ship. Paradise is threatened however when the population begins to undergo a series of rapid and bizarre physical changes, changes that soon begin to also occur to the planet itself. The Mariner's crew must find the cause of these changes before an idyllic world and its people are lost forever.
1x07: Chimera
When a derelict alien starship possessing fantastic weaponry and technology is discovered by a passing science vessel, the Mariner is asked to transport a Corps of Engineers team to study it further. When they arrive however, they find that there are several groups who also want the technology, and will stop at nothing to get it. What none of them realize, is that the ship may not be as derelict as they think.
